里夫斯回忆道：“在训练中，我总是问他如何通过挡拆解读不同的掩护，他总是花时间帮助我。关于如何解读，要利用掩护，阅读低位的球员。隆多说，为球队创造优势最重要的是要能判断出击地传球、空接传球或者斜传给侧翼球员是否可行，做出最优选择。”

在2019-20赛季，当隆多帮助湖人队夺得队史第17个总冠军时，他将自己的球场意识归功于自己是一名狂热的国际象棋选手。
